About Alex

Alex is a fourth-generation Coloradan and businessman who believes in rolling up his sleeves, leading from the front, and standing up for the people of Colorado’s 3rd District (CD3).

His family’s roots in CD3 date back to 1893, when his family immigrated to Trinidad, CO. For generations, the Kelloff family established themselves in Southern Colorado through hard work - running small businesses, contributing to their communities, and raising their families with a deep respect for integrity, responsibility, and service. His father grew up in the San Luis Valley, and his mother went to high school and Mesa State College in Grand Junction.

Alex’s father has spent ~60 years as a public servant at the National Institutes of Health - at 83, he still goes to work every day. His mother was a guide and educator at the Smithsonian. Alex is a product of the public school system. He grew up mowing lawns, shoveling snow and working construction. In college, he worked various jobs to help pay his way. Alex has been a lifelong outdoorsman, enjoying mountain biking, skiing, snowmobiling, camping, hunting and fishing.

Early in his career, Alex worked with the U.S. government as an IT and network specialist. This work included holding a Top Secret clearance while being embedded with the United States Marine Corps at the Pentagon and Quantico. For his work there, he became the first civilian contractor to be awarded a USMC Certificate of Commendation from the commanding general of the Recruiting Command.

While working full-time, he earned a masters degree at night and on the weekends from Johns Hopkins University, where he graduated with a perfect grade point average and completed his thesis in China. Thereafter, he pivoted to business, working for telecoms firms globally. This experience led him to business school (MBA) in France at INSEAD. In 2002, before his MBA, he helped to found Armada Skis, writing the business plan and helping to raise the initial capital.

After his MBA, Alex spent 14 years at Jefferies, leading $20B+ of transactions in the telecoms industry. These transactions supported many early stage companies, which used the capital to build critical infrastructure. He went on to help start SDC Capital Partners, where he played a key role in starting and operating companies to develop Internet infrastructure. These companies have created thousands of good jobs (often trades and union jobs) and are working to close the digital divide in places like CD3.

His family roots, upbringing, education and professional experience shaped his values and his call to service. His father taught him to “do well, so that he could do good.” Running for public office was never a plan but after Trump was reelected in 2024, he knew it was time to get involved, step back from his business career and “do good.” He began his campaign for CD3 in April 2025, ~18 months before the midterms because he wanted to learn from, and listen to, the constituents of the district. He has been to all 27 counties of CD3, met with tens of thousands of constituents, raised over $1 million into the campaign, and held over 120 events.

Alex is running for Congress because he believes CD3 deserves leadership that shows up, listens, and fights for what matters: good jobs, a lower cost of living, universal healthcare, accessible education, protection of our public lands and water, and the restoration of the American Dream. That’s the fight he is bringing to flip this seat BLUE on November 3rd and that’s the fight he’ll bring to Congress every day once we win the midterms.

Proudly Serving our communities and proud of the communities we serve!”
